Step 1
Disassemble a corrugated cardboard box so that it’s flat and ready to use. With a pencil and ruler, draw out the shape of the frame you would like to make. Keep in mind the sizes of the photos or art you’ll be framing! When making the width of the frame, lay out bread tags before you cut the cardboard – this will allow you to make sure the frame fits the bread tags nicely without any funny gaps.

Step 2
Use a craft knife and ruler to cut the frames on a cutting mat.

Step 3
Apply paint onto the frames! We used colors similar to those of the bread tags, but you can choose any colors you like. We painted the plain brown side of the cardboard and left the printed side unpainted on the back, but you can paint the back if you like, and even sign your name if you’re giving these as gifts. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 4
Once the paint is dry, lay out your bread tags on the frames. We went with a fun random pattern, but depending on your collection of bread tags, you could alternate colors to make a checkerboard, do all one color, make stripes, a gradient, or even make a rainbow! Once you’re happy with the pattern you’ve laid out, use white glue to stick them in place. We put the printed expiry dates on the back so that they’re slightly less visible on the front.

Step 5
Let the glue dry completely so the tags are nice and secure in place. Select your photo and glue or tape to the back of the frame! We kept the frames like this and they can easily be propped up on a shelf or ledge, but you could easily add a little cardboard stand on the back or even a loop of string if you prefer to hang them up on the wall. Or why not add a magnet to display on the fridge?
