Swan Candy Cups

Swan Candy Cups

Swans are so elegant with their long, skinny necks, and beautiful white feathers. They are loyal creatures as well, and usually stick with the same mate for life! Isn’t that the sweetest? I guess that’s why I adore them so much. They seem like the perfect bird to incorporate in Easter décor, and every place setting could use a little candy cup to hold some “swan eggs”, or other Easter treats! My mother-in-law always places some little candies by each plate in a festive container of sorts, depending on the holiday. She has used tiny baskets for Easter in the past, and my kids look forward to those special little touches, and traditions. This year, we will have to incorporate these swan candy cups! They can be made during your favorite Netflix episode – or two, and the supplies are easy to come by as well. You could buy multiple sizes of candy cups, and make Mommy and Daddy swans, with a bunch of babies (called “cygnets”).

If you love swans as much as we do, there are a lot of adorable crafts to incorporate in your Easter décor. Try these pinecone swan ornaments, leaving off the hanger to place them on the table as a centerpiece, and make these gumdrop swans to place on an Easter cake! You could also make some paper plate swans to hang on the wall for a sweet backdrop. This swan-themed Easter is really coming together!

  • Paper cups
  • White feathers
  • Tacky glue

how-to:

Swan Candy Cups
Step 1
Cut some white feathers down, to get rid of the hard, less flexible part of the stem. Glue the flexible parts of the feather around the sides your paper cups, until they are completely covered. Allow to dry.

Step 2
Cut a 3 ¾” piece of white pipe cleaner. Bend the top down around a finger, and bend the bottom slightly in the opposite direction, to form a loose “S” shape. Glue the bottom ¾” to the side of the feathery cup. Place at least one more flexible feather piece over the pipe cleaner that shows on the cup, to blend it in with the body.

Cut two feathers down to about 2”, and glue them on each side of the swan’s neck, sticking up past the top of the cup a bit to look like wings.
