Rainbow pillow pattern

Nothing better than a rainbow pillow to brighten up a room.

It’s a fun and colorful accessory that you can place on the couch, on a bed or to decorate a kid’s room.

The finished pillow size is 16×12 inches (40x30cm), a little more if you include the pom poms, the perfect dimension for a cozy throw pillow.

You can work with rainbow colors or choose any shade you like.

If you make the pillow for yourself or any of your growing-up friends you can decline shades of the same color for a modern version of the rainbow.

How do you make a rainbow pillow

I recommend you use cotton fabric. You can find below the materials you will need to sew your rainbow pillow:

Bright colors are a must to make a rainbow pillow.
You will need three vibrant colors to sew the rainbow and one neutral fabric shade to sew the sides and the back of the pillow.

Depending on where you want to use your pillow or on who is going to use it, you can choose to decline 3 shades of the same color or go for a bold mix.

Feel free to mix plain and patterned fabrics.

As you don’t need a lot of fabric for this project, take a look at your scrap fabrics you might find something to sew this rainbow pillow.

I really like the pom poms added on the rainbow bottom.

They are like little clouds and they finish the cushion quite nicely.

However if you are not a fan of pom poms, the rainbow pillow is also pretty without them. Look at the photo above, before I add the pom poms.

To make the pom poms, you can use this DIY pom poms technique.

I suggest you to buy a pom pom maker, it makes life easier and you can always reuse it for future projects.

I used a 3 in. (8cm) diameter pom poms maker, and needed more or less 2 yarn skein to make the 8 pom poms.
