Knitted Candle Cozy Pattern:

If your glass candle jar is a different size from mine, you may need to adjust the pattern by either increasing or decreasing the CO amount as well as the number of rows knitted.

Longtail CO 23 stitches loosely.

K1, P1 pattern for the first row.
Turn and begin P1, K1 pattern for the second row.

Turn and repeat these two steps until your reach 10 rows. The repeating knit and purl stitches will create a 1×1 rib pattern; which gives the candle cozy a lot of stretch.

K1, P1 stitches for 2 rows

If you have knots in your t-shirt yarn, no worries! Just push the knot towards the wrong side of the candle cozy like I have done here and it won’t be visible from the right side.

BO loosely.

Join the two short ends together using the hanging yarn from the CO or BO.

Wrap cozy around the candle jar.

Alternatively, you could also knit the candle cozy in the round if you use DPN (double pointed needles) instead of straight needles. If doing it this way, divide the 23 stitches on to 3 DPN and use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows. Once done, the cozy will be a continuous circular shape without the need to join the short ends.
