Wooden Bead Ornaments: Snowmen

This image contains a white beaded snowman ornament with a ribbon tie and mistletoe.

Wooden beads are such a popular craft supply right now, and I’m sharing four different styles of ornaments you can use them to create. First, I shared beaded baubles/icicles. Now, what could be cuter or more festive than using wooden beads to create a tiny snowman? Here’s what you’ll need to make them:

You’ll need:

wooden beads

white acrylic/multi-surface paint

paintbrush

jute twine

ribbon (optional)

scissors

black and orange permanent markers (or paint)

I got my beads and the twine from the Incraftables Wooden Beads Set. It comes with five different sizes of wooden beads, elastic cord, and jute. If you want to try it out, use the code AMY15 to save on your order.

Step 1: Paint your beads white.

Let them dry completely before moving on to the next step!

Step 2: String your beads.

Tie a knot in one end of the jute, then add three beads. You can vary the sizes if you like, or use three of the same size like I did. Form a loop at the top and tie a second knot.

Step 3: Add a face.

I used black and orange permanent markers to draw eyes, a carrot nose, and a smile on my top bead. I also had a very light shade of pink, which I applied to the cheeks. Tombow ABT PRO markers work great for this step, but you can use any kind of permanent marker you have on hand. You can also use acrylic paints and a small detail brush if you prefer, but I find markers easier to control.

Step 4: Add accent ribbon.

I tied a piece of buffalo plaid ribbon at the top of my snowman. You can tie a knot or a bow, and use any color/pattern of ribbon you like. You could also tie the ribbon between the top two beads to act as a scarf.

Now, your snowman is ready to hang on the tree! Stay tuned for two more wooden bead ornaments coming your way soon, and in the meantime, make sure to check out the bauble/icicle variation I shared in my last post.
