Wooden Bead Ornament: Wreath

Are you ready to get crafty with me and create our next wooden bead ornament? So far, we made a bauble/icicle and a snowman. Now, we’re going to make our beads into a cute little wreath! Take a look…

You’ll need:

wooden beads (I used 6 each of the 15mm and 20mm sizes)

elastic cord

jute

ribbon

scissors

green paint and paintbrush (optional)

All of these supplies except for the paint/paintbrush and the buffalo plaid ribbon are included in the Incraftables Wooden Bead Kit. You can make lots of other projects with it too, including all of the others in this Wooden Bead Ornament Series. If you grab one, you can save 15% with the code AMY15.

Step 1: Paint six (or more) beads green.

If you prefer, you can use all natural wood beads, but I liked adding a pop of color. Rather than acrylic paint, I used FolkArt Watercolor paint so that it acted more like a stain. The grain of the wood is still visible, which gives it a rustic, farmhouse look. I like to place my beads on a wooden skewer to paint them so that it’s easy to reach the entire surface. Let your beads dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Step 2: String your beads onto elastic cord.

I alternated between larger green beads (20mm) and smaller natural ones (15mm). Then, tie the ends of the cord together to form a circle. Tuck the knot inside one of the beads.

Step 3: Add a hanger.

Tie a piece of jute, or string to your wreath to turn it into an ornament. You can also add a decorative ribbon bow or knot just above the beads.

Now, your wreath is ready to go on display! This is not only an adorable (and easy) ornament, it also makes a great little tie-on to add to your gift packaging.

What do you think? Which of these wooden bead ornaments is your favorite style so far? Stay tuned for another idea, coming soon! In the meantime, be sure to join the Amy Latta & Friends Facebook Group if you haven’t already so that you can share your own photos when you create this or any other project, and we can all be inspired. See you there!
