Top 6 Magazine Subscriptions for Home Projects & DIY Ideas

5 Mins read

I want to thank Magazine.Store for partnering with me on this post for the top 6 magazine subscriptions for home projects & DIY ideas. All opinions of these magazine subscriptions are my own.

Here are 6 magazine subscriptions you can use to inspire your next DIY project, home decor project, or home improvement project.

Magazines are an amazing source of practical, doable, and creative decor options right at your fingertips.  The ideas and inspiration I get from these magazine subscriptions allow me to grow my business, work on home improvement projects, renovate our flip houses, and become a successful thrifter and DIYer. As most of you already know, the whole reason I was able to start My Creative Days is that I was inspired by magazines and wanted to have the home I had always dreamed of while staying on the budget I had to work with. These magazines can inspire you while making that budget seem more reasonable.

I get asked a lot about how I find the time to read magazines. Here are some ideas:

  • Waiting in the school pick up line
  • Soccer tournaments on Saturdays
  • Basketball practice
  • Long car rides
  • Visiting the beach
  • Vacations
  • Before bed
  • Lunch break

These are all great times to digest new and easy ideas for decorating and updating your home. I would much rather scroll through my magazine subscriptions than social media for ideas and inspiration. With the magazines, it is just me, my creative mind, and the ideas on the pages of the magazine. I am not looking for likes, comments, or how many times something has been shared.

I am just soaking in what I am reading and making my own decision about what I can do with the information. Any time spent scrolling through magazines is a much better use of my time than scrolling social media. The fact that they are easily accessible at my fingertips has made that the habit I am doing on my phone now. Social media has taken a backseat for inspiration because of these magazine subscriptions.

The reason I love these magazines so much is that I am able to turn my ideas into reality on a budget. I read a lot of magazines, so I subscribe to as many as possible. It’s good to try a few different ones and see which ones provide what you need as a reader.

Do It Yourself is the ultimate guide for DIY enthusiasts. With a Do It Yourself subscription, you can add a personal touch to every room of your home with fun and creative ideas. Bringing life back to older pieces and giving them a new purpose is one of my favorite things about DIY.

If you enjoy a wide variety of delicious recipes to try with your family, then you need to get a Do It Yourself Magazine Subscription.

Martha Stewart Living

Martha Stewart Living magazine offers articles and features on a wide range of topics, including home improvement and decorating, beauty, entertainment and parties, holiday celebrations, food and cooking, DIY projects, crafting, and more. Real Simple

Real Simple is the best of both worlds, both practical and sophisticated. It’s like everyone’s dream home. We try to create sophisticated looks inside our homes, while also making them practical and work for us. Real Simple creates a positive, supportive, and relaxing experience through which women can learn, connect and share inspiring ideas. Three words come to mind when I think of Real Simple: Beauty, Mindset, & Purpose. Everyone is searching for a solution to their own unique ideas on their own specific budget. HGTV Magazine

HGTV is by far the most popular DIY and home design company today, it provides so much inspiration for any kind of project you might have. One of my favorite things about HGTV is its budget consciousness. Sections of this magazine are devoted to showing how you can add value to your home without costing you a ton of money. Get advice from experts on decorating your home while staying on budget. Don’t forget, HGTV offers inspiration and advice on indoor and outdoor projects.

Better Homes &  Gardens

Better Homes & Gardens has been around since 1922. This women’s lifestyle magazine features everything from garden spaces to unique living room ideas. A subscription to Better Homes & Gardens will give you access to a wide variety of topics, from food and cooking to home improvement and decorating. This magazine is designed for the everyday woman, so you will also find tips on beauty and style. One of the best features of this magazine is the seasonal content.

From holiday decor ideas, entertainment ideas, to decorating tips, it really has it all. Get creative with your home and find the color schemes, decor styles, and renovation plans that were made just for you. You really can have the house of your dreams on a budget.

Good Housekeeping

Good Housekeeping has been around for a while.  Even though it is a well-known brand, a lot of people don’t know about the research and evaluation of products that they do at The Good Housekeeping Institute. Established in 1885, this magazine covers all the topics. Products have to pass an approval process and then can receive the ‘Good Housekeeping Approval’ seal.

Good Housekeeping has kept its main focus on providing reliable information on safe and beneficial products. There’s a reason this magazine has been around for so long. Good Housekeeping is praised by its readers for sharing projects that are feasible for the average person/income.  One of my favorite features of this subscription is the reviews of products. The fact that they put so much research and care into what they share makes it one of the top trusted magazines. If you are looking for informative articles, this is a must have for you.
