Is there anything more satisfying than a before and after photo of room makeover? Let’s just say it’s up there in the “makes my brain happy” category.
I wrote a blog post a few years ago with our best room renovations (here’s part one and part two) and now that summer is almost here, I thought it would be a good time to showcase our best outdoor makeovers.

Get ready to make a “jaw dropping” face, when you see some of these photos, because … wow. Let’s do this!
As you can see above, the holiday house front porch had a lot of potential to be cute and cozy, but it was pretty lackluster. The solution? Tile! It’s rare to see a tiled front porch, and I couldn’t believe how nice (and fancy) it looked. It’s even more amazing in person.
Over the years, I’ve learned that Laura can do any (and every kind) of DIY known to man—especially the ones that seem impossible. When she decided to transform her carport into an outdoor porch, I couldn’t believe how incredible the transformation was!
Elsie’s pool and back patio area went from drab to fab (as cheesy as that sounds, haha) after she added a safety fenceMic, white paint, and pink and green poolside decor. The wood fired pizza oven made a pretty big difference, too.
Remember when we featured this incredible greenhouse DIY on the blog? It’s the most dramatic makeover I’ve ever seen—in a good way. You can seem more before and after photos here.
Laura brought the colors of Palm Springs to her home in Nashville with this painted concrete porch floor DIY. It reminds me of a cool hotel patio!
Here’s a makeover idea that anyone can do—painting a front door! It’s an easy, budget-friendly way to give your home a fresh new look, just like Elsie did here.
Wow! The most noticeable difference from this deck makeover is the wood. Can you believe it was refinished without hiring a professional?
Mandi also added a slat wood privacy fence and pergola to her backyard. You can also read her tips for decorating an outdoor space here—so helpful!
This one brings back so many memories of working in the ABM studio house. This outdoor space needed some major love to become a perfect spot to hang with friends and sip cocktails.
I saved the most “controversial” post for last. Painting exterior brick. Either you love it or you really, really disagree with it. I have to say, though, the white makes such a big difference with these particular homes.
They look brighter (obviously) but more put together, and it fits the style so such better. What do you think?
It is interesting to see how the quality has been raised over the years, and that is a good thing! Looking at the old ABM studio house, you see how the bottom of the wall is completely unresolved and seems like it will keep rotting. Compare that to the meticulous angles of the woodwork Laura cut for the privacy fence/divider in the carport. It is great to see that as the business has grown, so have your skills!
So hard to choose a favourite but Emma’s front porch is amazing!
