Magnetic Fall Watercolor Leaves (with Printable!)

We’re so happy to share this beautiful fall watercolor leaves printable and show you how you can magnetize those leaves with the Xyron Creative Station. The magnetic leaves are great for decorating your fridge or a DIY chalkboard as we’ve done!

Crafting for Fall with Xyron

Happy fall y’all! When our friends at Xyron offered to send us some crafting goodies and challenged us to create a project for autumn using the Creative Station, our creative juices started flowing.

If you’re not familiar with the Creative Station, it’s a versatile little tool that let’s you laminate and/or add adhesive or magnetic backings to any sheets (photos, documents, art). You can create stickers, labels and more.

When I thought about creating a fall craft, the idea of decorating my new upcycled chalkboard with pretty watercolor fall leaves came to mind. So I dusted off my watercolor paints and created these beauties (see our little Instagram Reel of the painting process).

I then digitized them (be sure to grab your watercolor fall leaves download below) and printed them out on regular copy paper. Then I made them magnetic as described below! You can also see the magic happen on this Facebook Live video.

Xyron prepared a great profile on us as crafty sisters, as well as our fall project idea. Head on over to their blog to read all about it, including our experience in using the Creative Station for the first time!

Materials Needed for this Fall Craft Idea

How to Make Magnetic Fall Watercolor Leaves

After printing out the leaves cut each out with scissors. You could actually feed the entire sheet through the Creative Station, but I cut them out separately first to minimize the amount of waste of the magnet backing.

After cutting off the magnetic sheet (there’s a built in slicer), cut right around the leaves with a pair of scissors. You can go right to the edge of the leaf, or leave a little black border as I did.

Your leaves are actually now all set and can be applied to any metal surface such as your fridge or a memo board.

To make them stick to our chalkboard, there’s one more step to take. Xyron has a cool Magnet Tape that you can just stick to the surface you’d like your leaves to go on! On side has an adhesive (that’ll stick to the board) and the other will stick to your magnetized leaf.

I actually found it best to place the bits of Magnet Tape to the back of the leaf first (so that the poles could optimally line up) and then to stick it to the chalkboard.

I’ve added seven leaves to my chalkboard in total and think they just look so perfect for autumn! I’ve also strung one of my acorn bead garlands to the top.

And the whole think looks so perfect with my 3-tiered tray all decorated for fall including little no-sew fabric pumpkins, mason jar pumpkins, mini farmhouse signs and more! We’ll have the full tiered tray fall decorating tutorial on the blog soon!

Thank you so much to Xyron for sending us the Creative Station and Magnet tape to craft with. The best part is now I have the abaility to change up my chalkboard decor with the seasons. Be sure to subscribe to our blog so you don’t miss the Halloween and holiday printables we have planned.

Have a wonderful reminder of fall friends!
