Today’s craft is the Harry Potter Mandrake Plant-Sculpt this totally cute little addition to any succulent to show off your true Harry Potter fandom!
I hope you guys are obsessed with Harry Potter as much as I am- because I have a few posts coming at you that are all fun crafts! AND I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THEM! First up- we are going to make a cute little mandrake figurine to put in our plants!
Here is what you need to make a Harry Potter mandrake plant
- Crayola air dry clay
- spanish moss
- paint
- skewer
- Hot glue gun
- printable (down below)
There are probably a lot of different clay options out there- but this crayola is easy to use and pretty inexpensive and I love that it is air dry!
Sculpt the Mandrake
This part does take some time and talent- but luckily the mandrakes face and body is pretty random- I just watched Harry Potter so I could reference them! You will want to make sure to have the hands and feet taper down (think roots) and some fun vines coming from the head.
Let Air Dry.
Paint your Mandrake
I used regular tole paint. I tried to accent any indentions with dark brown to give it some dimension. I sealed it with a top coat of clear spray paint to give it a little more durability!
Attach stick
I added a skewer to the mandrakes underside- Just so it could stick in the plant easier! You could do this before you paint to have something to hold on to as you paint!
Add the mandrake’s roots
I just used a little spanish moss and hot glue to add the “roots” to the mandrake! You can make these as big and thick as you want! You can also glue on some green leaves to the top of your mandrake- I stuck mine in the plant so I didn’t add any other greenery!
Then you can add in your mandrake to your pot and pop in a the mandrake sign! I laminated the printable just so it would hold up when I watered the plant!
Here are the Harry Potter mandrake plant printable- It would be cute on the front of the pot as well!
