Okay, the house containment is getting interesting! This past weekend I felt the need to paint and give my living room a bit of a refresh. Since I am trying to budget right now, I used leftover paint to create a DIY large scale painted wallpaper focal wall. This isn’t actually wallpaper, but mimics the look with a large scale sideways rainbow pattern. It was suprisingly simple to do!

I love the handdrawn look of the arches and that light pink on white is perfect for the warmer months ahead.

This focal wall in my living room is right next to the stairs, but is the perfect size to fit a small gallery wall. Just look at what it looked like before!

Isn’t it so much fresher and vibrant now?

The process to paint your own DIY Large Scale Painted Wallpaper is pretty simple! You just need a piece of scrap cardboard and a pencil along with a small paint brush and your paint.

I cut out this arch, but I didn’t want to go full rainbow, so I turned it on its side and used a pencil to trace the inside and outside edge.

Next, I used my small paint brush and my latex paint to trace over the lines to create the pattern.

I continued to do this across the wall. I changed up the direction of the pattern and just eyeballed the spacing. But I love the way it turned out! The process only took about 30-45 minutes since the pattern was so large scale and spread out.

Once the paint was dry I threw up some art from around the house to recreate a more vibrant gallery wall.

I love how the quick afternoon project turned out! The only problem I see now is that no space is safe in my house! I have a feeling by the time quarantine is over I may just have repainted every wall in here! Ha!
