Begin by painting your planter with the acrylic craft paint in a color block effect. The top one color and the bottom another. Once the paint is dry, use the black paint pen to draw on the leopard pattern.

You might think that a leopard pattern is too complicated to draw, but if you look at the print closely you can see that it is just a combo of small and large c’s and oblong dots. Practice on a scrap piece of paper first, but I promise it isn’t too difficult to recreate.

Once you have your pattern, cut a piece of the tattoo paper that fits around the planter and is appx. 1/4″ to 1/2″ wide. Peel away the plastic backing and adhere the strip to the planter. Then use a wet paper towl to soak the paper backing and slowly peel away the paper to reveal the gold banding.

AAAACK! SO DARN CUTE! I always paint (or stencil or glitter or foil ~ I’m one of those people who can’t leave things “plain”) my terra cotta pots and I have around 200 or so houseplants so I needed new ideas ~ I’ve stenciled leopard print, painted solid colors, but never combined the 2 like this and they’re AWESOME! I just happen to have a stash of plain pots, waiting until I have time to get to them, and NOW is the time! I hope they turn out as great as yours do. I love your whole site, btw! It literally brightens this lonely old lady’s day! XOXO
